OMS Return to School
Parent & Student Edition 21-22
Welcome to OMS! You were missed!!
We hope that you had an enjoyable summer and are ready for the 21/22 school year to begin! In this newsletter, you will find detailed information about the registration process, school picture day, bell schedules, OMS expectations, and athletics!
Some of you have asked me about the SCHOOL SUPPLIES needed for the school year. Please know we are issuing all students a Chromebook, power cord, and bag on their first day of school. We will be expecting students to charge their computers at night, bring them to school each day, and use them in every class. Each student should plan to have in their bag: a notebook to take handwritten notes and pencils and pens. Teachers will let students know if additional supplies are necessary.
We are looking forward to seeing our 7th & 8th graders students walk their schedules on 8/16 or 8/17 and can't wait to meet our new 6th grade students on 8/20! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions and we look forward to our partnership.
Go Wildcats!
Mrs. Dacia Beazley, Principal

- If I am a bus rider, do I have my mask to wear on the bus?

*Do not pull up to the main building walkway and stop if there is space ahead*
If you elect to walk your student(s) to the building entrance, please park in an empty space and walk your student to the sidewalk with your mask on. You will need to re-enter the traffic flow in the yellow arrow section.
Only buses are permitted to drop off by the front office area.
Riding the Bus
- Due to the Federal Order, everyone on a bus must wear a mask at all times
Each bus will have a supply of disposable masks for students that forget
We will enforce assigned seating for all students and monitor attendance

At this point, you will not have a locker so you will report directly to your first class
In all hallways, you will stay to the right of the hall (just like vehicles on a road)

It is important that you remain in your assigned seat unless given permission from your teacher

Stay to the right of the hallway
Report directly to your next class and wait for your teacher to invite you into the classroom

Use the restroom in a quick fashion
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water
All bottle filling stations will remain open
Please bring a reusable water bottle
Food Service - Breakfast & Lunch
All breakfast and lunches are free this year!
If your child wants to purchase something in addition to the free lunch, you can add money to their Send Money to School Account.
Breakfast is eaten during Advisory class. Teachers will assist students with their orders.
There will be grade-level lunches held in the Commons. Any student that wishes to order a sub or a wrap will need to submit to the Nutrislice app by 9 a.m. Students can purchase lunches on Nutrislice up to 24 hours in advance.
If ordering a sub or wrap, please make sure to create a Nutrislice account with your child at home.
Lockers & Backpacks
In an effort to reduce hallway congestion, students will not have access to their academic lockers. Students will be provided with a Chromebook and computer bag. Lockers will be assigned at a later date.
- String bags, backpacks, computer cases, etc, will be allowed in the hallways to allow for quick transitions to their classrooms.
Students will have access to lockers in their PE classes for changing purposes a few weeks after the school year begins. The PE teachers will socially distance the lockers and adjust the student access time to accommodate safety precautions.
Athletics
* All OMS students who wish to try out for any athletic team must have a completed physical (dated after April 15, 2021) uploaded to your students Appryse account before their first practice/try-out session

Medication Drop-off
For the 2021-22 school year, we are asking that parents/guardians drop off any necessary medical forms and medication to the main office the week of August 16th-20th. Office hours are 7:00am – 3:00pm.
If you have a student at OMS with a medical condition that the school needs to be aware of, please click the appropriate link below to print a medical action plan. This plan needs to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian and by the student’s doctor prior to submitting the form to OMS. A new form needs to be completed each school year.
Medication should be placed in a zip lock bag, clearly labeled with the student’s name and grade. Please have the appropriate form accompany the medication. Links to each form can be found below.
If you have questions or concerns, please call 248-969-1804 or email Rebecca.barkman@oxfordschools.org.
Forms are also located on the Oxford Community Schools' website > For Parents & Students > Documents & Forms > Medical Plan and Medication Forms
