Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Your child completed Renaissance Star computer-adapted testing in basic math and reading skills. These tests measure students’ abilities in math and reading as compared to other students, nationally. The test results are then used by building administration and instructional staff to identify students who may be at-risk of not meeting grade level benchmarks by the end of the year. Please note that in previous years, we utilized the FASTBridge assessments and have transitioned to Star.
Like FASTBridge, the Star assessments will be administered three times a year to all students enrolled in Oxford Community Schools in grades Kindergarten through 9th grade as an integral part of our multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). We administer the tests at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the year. This testing allows us to track the academic development and progress of your child in reading and math. It also allows us to identify students who may benefit from intervention services.
Students who score below the grade level benchmark may be identified to receive additional instructional support or interventions. If this is the case, you will be contacted by our staff so you can participate in the process as we plan for your child’s future success.
Since the assessment is given three times a year, we will continue to modify instruction and support as needed based on more current data. In addition, if you have any further questions, your child’s teacher or the principal can be a source of information as well.
To access your child’s scores, please follow the directions below.
Star Testing results will be sent securely through PowerSchool’s Parent Portal. You can find them in your account’s “Document Library” section.
To access the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please ensure you have completed the required information update, including creating at least one PowerSchool Data Access account. Oxford Community Schools will use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to deliver essential documents such as report cards, test results, etc.
