January 14, 7th Grade Health & Fitness Class Info

Dear Parents and Guardians of 7th Grade Health and Fitness Students:

Your seventh-grade student will be receiving education on sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and other communicable disease prevention during his/her Health and Fitness class beginning Wednesday, January 19, 2022, with Mrs. Jessica Rowe.  Mrs. Rowe is the OMS 2021 Teacher of the Year and is being recognized on January 20 as the Michigan Society of Health and Physical Education Middle School PE Teacher of the Year!

The Oxford Board of Education has established a program of instruction that includes education in sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and other communicable disease prevention.   

According to the Michigan School Aid Act, you have the right to review the curriculum content used in reproductive health education, as well as HIV and other communicable disease prevention education.  In 7th grade, Mrs. Rowe will teach the following topics during the Health & Fitness class:

All of the 7th grade lessons are included in the section entitled, "7th Grade Growth, Development & Sexuality Education" on the left side of the Haiku page.

Law allows you to excuse your child from participation in the class periods or lessons that are included in the reproductive health curriculum, including lessons on HIV or other communicable diseases.  If you wish to exercise your right to excuse your child from instruction without a penalty, please complete the link below.   Students will have an alternate assignment and location during the class period that the reproductive health curriculum is taught.  You would only complete this form if you do not want your child to participate in the reproductive health lessons.
