January 7, Outside Threat Received by Students

Dear OMS Families,

We wanted to make you aware last night, January 6, 2022, a small group of female Oxford Middle School students was in a personal group call on Facetime when an unknown adolescent male joined the group chat. During the call, the male made threats to the girls which were then screenshot and shared on social media. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the threat and immediately began investigating. The person responsible for the threat has been identified located and is being dealt with by law enforcement. The individual is not an Oxford Community Schools student and does not reside in this county. At no time was there a direct threat of violence made from this individual to any of our Oxford schools.

Due to the quick reporting of this threat, it was able to be quickly investigated and resolved. As a reminder, if anyone becomes aware of a threat please report it as soon as possible to local law enforcement or to the OK2Say tip line at https://www.michigan.gov/ok2say.

Sincerely,

Dacia Beazley, Principal
