March 8, OMS OLWEUS Bullying Survey Update

Dear Oxford Middle School Families,

Please see the underlined update below from my initial correspondence regarding the OLWEUS Bullying Questionnaire.

On March 15, 2023, all Oxford Middle School students will be completing an OLWEUS Bullying Questionnaire through their ELA classes. This effort supports our goal of gathering student input and perspective on the various aspects of a positive school culture and climate.  Gaining insight directly from our students will help us improve the future experiences they have at OMS. The OLWEUS questionnaire focuses on one of the areas of our learning environment that we wish to gain specific insight on. This survey is a standardized, anonymous, validated, multiple-choice questionnaire designed to measure various aspects of bullying that may be taking place in schools.  Students will be taking this anonymous survey individually from their Chromebooks and our ELA teachers will be facilitating this activity.  We intend to review the data results later this semester in order to make informed school-wide decisions on programs, supports and areas of improvement.

Please use the link attached below if you choose to opt your student out from taking the survey. Please submit your opt-out request in the link no later than Tuesday, March 14th.

We appreciate your support as we strive to help create the safest learning environment for our students.

Sincerely,
