November 10, Evolv Kiosk Update

Dear Oxford Middle School Families,

I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with feedback after our first day of implementing the Evolv weapons detection kiosks during student arrival.

We are extremely grateful to our students for their patience and cooperation this morning as they did experience longer than normal wait times as we worked to check in all students in a safe, seamless way. We communicated with students yesterday the importance of having their Chromebooks out of their backpacks in advance and they did an outstanding job of being prepared prior to walking through the Evolv kiosk.

Many of our students were flagged for additional safety checks due to computer chargers, band instruments, and three ring binders (the metal inserts inside the folder). Please help us in encouraging your student to charge their device each evening so their computer charger isn’t required to come to school with them. In addition, it would be helpful if they left any unnecessary school items, such as their three ring binders, at school in their locker if it isn’t needed for homework/school work the following day.

We anticipate minor delays in our process as we all acclimate to the new safety procedures each morning. Our team debriefed after student arrival this morning and as a result, will be making some adjustments to improve the overall flow of students as they enter the building.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Your continued support has been extremely encouraging to our staff.

Sincerely,

Brad Bigelow, Principal

Oxford Middle School
