October 27, Reported Incident Reminder

Dear Oxford Middle School Families,

At approximately 10:15 PM last night, our district sent out communication regarding reports of concerning rumors from school on October 26th. That email is highlighted below. In addition, please note that OMS Administration was first made aware of these rumors late last night, not during the school day. During the investigation, the individuals were not able to provide any specific information about the source of the rumors nor did the individuals hear anything firsthand. Also, our weapons detection dog will be at Oxford Middle School prior to students entering the building this morning. Please remind your student that our staff will be checking their belongings upon entry as we greet them.

We understand the concerns that this type of report brings and as a result realize that each family needs to make a decision that is best for them as it pertains to attending school today.

Sincerely,

Brad Bigelow, Principal

OMS administration was informed of rumors overheard at school about a shooting and/or possibly a gun being brought to school at Oxford Middle School tomorrow, Oct. 27, 2022. The individuals were not able to provide any specific information about the source of the rumors. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at Oxford Middle School tomorrow and staff will be greeting students at the doors to check their belongings upon entry.

We appreciate our school community reporting safety concerns and remind everyone to please contact the administrator of the school via phone or email as soon the concern arises as well as law enforcement or OK2Say tip line.
